Favorite hashtag: I don’t use hashtags, I find them outdated.

What flavor ice cream would you be? Cookie dough.

Trendsetter or a follower: I like to be both.

How do you handle criticism? I take it very well. I take the criticism and apply it to what ever needs to be fixed.

Where would you go in a time machine? Back to the early 2000s to see the comparison of how we live now.

ZOOMING IN

Q: Who inspired you to play French horn?

A: “I wasn’t inspired by anyone. When I auditioned going into middle school I was supposed to play trumpet, but then Mr. Stevens switched me to french horn. Since then I have just been playing it and loving it.”

Q: How did region go?

A: “It was very fun to complete my last year of region in high school. It was definitely a more memorable experience considering that the conductor I had was someone I knew from before, which was pretty special.”

Q:  Do you get more nervous when you play in front of the full band on the spot?

A: “I definitely get nervous playing in front of the band. I can play the music but sometimes I doubt myself. I remember all of the work that I have done up to that point to help me get through playing whatever solo.”

Q: What was your hardest piece to play?

A:  “My hardest piece I’ve ever played was this piece called, ‘Till Eulenspiegel’ by Richard Strauss. The horn part really tests your range and flexibility.”

Q: After high school band what do you hope for in the future?

A: “I definitely hope I am still playing music on the side, but at the same time I do want to go to business school and eventually get an MBA like my mom.”

Q: What piece have you played that you liked the most?

A: “This piece called Symphonic Metamorphosis. I played all horn movements with the Dallas Wind Symphony Orchestra. That was a once in a life time experience because not a lot of teenagers get to play with professionals. So for me to play a huge piece was pretty spectacular.”

Q: What motivates you before you play in front of a judge?

A: “I try to get a high ranking when I play in front of a judge. Other than that I typically just get nervous.”

Q: When you walked into Whataburger and Harry Styles was there, how did you feel?

A: “When I met him I knew that I just had to act calm or else he was gonna be like, ‘oh no this is another fan that I have to deal with.’ So I was really really relaxed whenever I asked for a picture with him. When I got to my car that’s when I started screaming.”
