Students are invited to watch others show off their talents during theaters Coffee House on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. This is the first of two Coffee House’s this year; the next is May 12.

This semester’s theme is time machine, and performers have chosen their acts based on a variety of time periods.

Admission is $5. During the performances the audience will be able to enjoy coffee, other beverages and desserts including brownies and cookies.

Those who have participated in Coffee House in the past said that it is a great way for them to be able to break out of their shells. Coffee House is not only for theater students as it will also showcase other talents including singing, dancing and debating.

“I always look forward for this event because it gives us a chance to look at the other students’ talents,” sophomore Paige Woelke said.

Participating students get a feel of what it’s like to be a performing artist. It helps students show what they’re really good at, and it becomes another high school memory.

When freshmen begin to go through the process of preparing for Coffee House it’s definitely nerve-wracking; it isn’t until the performance is actually finished that students feel the satisfaction that they accomplished something toward their dreams.

“That was my first experience of letting [the whole world see] something of mine,” junior Jay Teamer said.

The previous juniors and seniors are very passionate about the event.

“I’m not going to lie; I was a performer before the Coffee House, but it did show me how much I can grow,” Teamer said. “I think that’s why I’m so passionate about it because it’s an outlet for people who don’t necessarily have the opportunity to go on a stage.”
