Former Disney Channel star Bridgit Mendler released her EP titled “Nemesis” on Friday, Nov. 18 and it only makes fans more excited for the album. Mendler took a break from music to pursue her acting career on the NBC live TV show “Undateable.” The show did well, but her fans were excited to hear that she decided to jump back into her music.

Her last album “Hello My Name Is” was the reason why so many people fell in love with her music. A listener can tell she writes her music solely because the lyric choice is unique and genuine, which gives a more relatable and fun feeling to her songs.

The EP consists of four songs “Atlantis,” “Library,” “Do You Miss Me At All” and “Snap My Fingers.”

Even though she released “Atlantis” and “Do you Miss Me At All” before “Nemesis” was officially released, the EP still skyrocketed overnight to number nine on the iTunes charts. Fans have been desperately waiting for new music from Mendler and this EP only makes them question what’s next.

The EP has a consistent theme of love and memories. “Atlantis” and “Do You Miss Me At All” are about knowing that love can exist with someone but not being sure if you really love the person. “Library” and “Snap My Fingers” are mostly about remembering the old times and forced love.

All of the songs have a really good beat which makes each have a distinctive feel. Each song has a different vibe to it and a different sound that is totally new to Mendler. The songs have an old blues kind of vibe especially with “Library” and “Do You Miss Me At All.” Mendler is starting to pick up “sing-rapping” where she’s not really singing but she’s not necessarily rapping either. Most fans like her new style and think it suits her well, which only makes her audience wonder what her next album is going to sound like. Will she go back to pop or will she stick with this new style of music?

She has improved on her vocals dramatically since her last album. She’s a great musician so there is no doubt her next era of music will be a good one.

Overall the album deserves 4 out of 5 stars because some listeners might not like Mendler’s new change in style. However, give her a chance because she might be the next great breakout artist with her next album.
