After a combined 35 years in education, Pat Kerrigan and Cindy Winter are both retiring this year

After several years of being paraprofessionals, Pat Kerrigan and Cindy Winter are retiring from Lewisville High School. We asked them about their journey in high school education. 

ESL Aide Pat Kerrigan

Q: How many years have you been in education?

A: “14.”

QWhat’s been your most memorable moment while attending LHS?

A: “Everything here at LHS is a memorable moment, its hard to pin-point, [if I could pick an event it would be] graduation.”

QWhat has been your worst moment while attending Lewisville High School?

A: “Coming to school early.”

QWhat will you miss most about LHS?

A: “The people, the kids.”

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of Lewisville High school (as a whole)?

A: “The closeness everyone has.”

Q: What made you want to become involved with  ESL?

A: “Because I’m bilingual and I came from Mexico. I understand what they [ESL students]  came from.”

Q: What will you plan on doing after this school year ends?

A: Enjoy my kids and grandchildren because I’m moving to Bermuda, Texas and I will also be close to my brother and sister in San Antonio.”

QAre you going to miss coming to LHS?

A: “Yes I am!”

 

Special Needs Aide Cindy Winter

Q: How many years have you been in education?

A: “21.”

Q: What’s been your most memorable moment while attending LHS?

A: “Working with my first students in my bridging class with Mrs. Thiede and Mrs. Vernon. Also watching the students become successful.” 

Q: What has been your worst moment while attending Lewisville High School?

A: “The most difficult is when a student fails, like a test or fails in a presentation, and they have given it their all, but then they pick turn themselves around they are able to succeed.”

Q: What will you miss most about LHS?

A: “The students and staff.”

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of Lewisville High school (as a whole)?

A: “The Farmer family and the feeling of tradition.”

Q: What made you want to become involved with  Special Needs?

A: “I have a brother that has special needs.”

Q: What will you plan on doing after this school year ends?

A: “Travel with my husband.”

Q: Are you going to miss coming to LHS?

A: “Of course, both my kids graduated from here. But after 17 years here and 21 total in education, I guess I can graduate now and move on to different things.”
