A construction crew works to strip and replace exterior tiles on the science wing. The repair project is expected to take two weeks.

Even though the main campus building experienced major construction only two years ago, there is always room for improvement. While most of the science wing was constructed prior to 2012, that wing is currently undergoing renovations to its exterior.

The outside of the wing began experiencing problems after a few tiles began to fall off the exterior wall. This was due to the mortar underneath absorbing too much moisture for it to hold onto the tiles.

Since these tiles coming off the building is a safety hazard, the school decided to undergo this minor construction project to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.

Due to it’s small size and exterior placing, it should have no effect on student or staff life, assistant principal Stephanie Gore said. Gore added that the renovations will not affect the major flow of traffic.

“The biggest inconvenience would be taking up nine parking spots in the lot,” Gore said.

This construction is scheduled to take only the next two weeks.
