Scraps thrift store was just one stop on the Art Club and Fashion Club’s Thursday field trip.

Fashion and Art Club students arrived at Toni & Guy Academy on Thursday to devise and collaborate with Toni & Guy’s own cosmetology students for the clubs’ upcoming Thrift Store Fashion Show  in February.

With a strong five year relationship with the school’s fashion club, Toni & Guy couldn’t say no to being a part of the event.

“I called them and I told them about the project, and amazingly enough they said they were interested,” art teacher Nicole Franczvai said.

At the consultation the students had 30 minutes to talk and discuss their own ideas of their design with the consultants that were provided. During the consultation the students were supposed to share what they wanted their outfit, hair, and makeup to look like.

“My consultation went great,” senior Dominique Bun said. “I felt like our mentor people really helped out a lot with our ideas, and they made my vision more clear.

After the consultation with Toni & Guy, the students headed to a store named Scraps, followed by Thrift World, to get any materials they needed for their design. Even though some of the participants weren’t quite sure about getting involved with the show, which will be held in the cafeteria, after having the consultation and shopping for their design, they became more motivated and excited to actually be a part of the event.

“I really felt like I haven’t done anything my high school year, so I just want to try and go for this,” Bun said.

Franczvai said she believes the show is very important to the students. She wanted to give her students an opportunity to do what they love, because she wishes something like this would have been available while she was in high school.

“I just wanted them to have a different experience,” Franczvai. “I hated high school and I thought about what would I enjoy getting out of high school, and that would be doing something like this.”
