The second annual Volley for Jenna Volleyball Tournament will be held next Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the arena.

The last day to sign up is on Friday, and the entry fee is $10 without a T-shirt and $20 with one.

The tournament is held in honor of Jenna Sigety, a former Farmer volleyball player.

“Jenna Sigety was a student who was a Farmer from Valley Ridge and Huffines,” Student Council adviser Allison Stamey said. “She was in her senior year at Lewisville High School [and] a week before homecoming [she] was killed in a car wreck. She was a Student Council class member and a volleyball player.”

The Volley for Jenna Volleyball Tournament was set up by the Sigety family. The money earned contributes to Jenna’s scholarship who is awarded to a current Farmer volleyball player.

While the overall goal of the tournament is to fund Jenna’s scholarship, there are more reasons as to why many people are helping contribute to the fund.

“We would like to get the Jenna Sigety Scholarship to have enough to keep the funding each year,” Stamey said. “The good thing, for those of us that lived through the pain of losing her, [is that] we keep her memory alive through that scholarship. So that’s why it’s important that we keep doing that.”

No big changes have been made for this year, except the cost of the entries have been lowered.

“It was pretty successful last year for our first year,” Stamey said. “This year we’re hoping to get more entries in.”

Those who do not wish to participate in the tournament are still invited to come out to show support and enjoy food, games and prizes.
