Senior Kacie Saucedo heads back to the dugout after scoring a run against Euless Trinity on Friday, April 25. The Farmers won the game 10-0 to advance to Area this weekend vs. Belton.

The Farmers softball team, now moving on to area after their bi-district round with a record of 26-7 overall, beat Euless’ Trinity High School with two shutout games, winning by a combined score of 26-0.

Tonight the defending 5A state champs play Belton [28-11] for the area title in Glen Rose at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, May 2, they will play at 7 p.m and a final tie-breaker, if needed, at 6 p.m on Saturday. The address for the fields is 901 Stadium Dr., Glen Rose, 76043.

Transportation will not be available to and from games this round, but will be available for the next round, student activities director Allison Stamey said.

Head coach Lori Alexander said that the team feels good about playing at Glen Rose. It may be a turf field, but the girls played well on that type of surface last year, shutting out Waco Midway in two games,  by a total score of 9-0.

“Belton is a pretty good team,” Alexander said. “I think overall we are stronger than they are, but, from here on out, we have to play our game. ”

Senior Kacie Saucedo knows that Belton is a good hitting team, and added that their opponents have already taken the first swing in the matchup online.

“They put on their page [online] that it’s their time, not our time,” Saucedo said. “Our time was last year.”
