The Fighting Farmers [3-5 overall, 1-4 in district 5-6A] face the Hebron Hawks [6-2 overall, 4-1 in district 5-6A] in the final away game of the season tonight at 7:30.

The Hawks defeated powerhouse Euless Trinity [5-3 overall, 2-3 in district 5-6A] 39-21 last Friday in sight of making playoffs this season. Currently Hebron sits second in the district, and the Farmers sit in eighth.

“Hebron is going to come out thinking they are probably going to beat us, but we’re going to show up and try to beat them,” senior tight end Pierce Bauer said.

Hebron aims to be a playoff contending team this season. The Farmers look to pull off the upset by getting a key win away from home with hopes of changing the playoff picture.

“I think [Hebron] is going to be a tough one actually,” senior fullback Chris Reed said. “They’ve been doing a lot better than in the past few years. They’ve come out and beat teams that no one would’ve expected of happening.”

Changes have been made in the game plan and some players have been moved around this week. The boys remain optimistic and have been putting in work on and off the field.

“We’re moving some guys around in positions trying to find a new look for some people, and fill in the [empty positions] that we have right now,” senior wide receiver Tyrell Shavers said. “It hasn’t been working out in the recent games so [coaches] are trying to put other people in other positions.”

While the current record is not in favor of the Farmers, the positivity remains in the team.

“We’re trying to get some of the positivity back,” head coach Gregg Miller said. “There are a lot of long faces out here right now after losing two games in a row that we felt we could’ve done a lot better [in].”

Being able to notice the little mistakes and errors will be key for the players. Teamwork is essential for them to function.

“We just need to work together more as a team,” Bauer said. “We will win but first we have to sort out the little things and get them figured out.”
