The first and only cross country home meet will be the Rick Neil Memorial on Saturday Oct. 11 at Lake Park in Lewisville. The first race starts at 8:30 a.m.

“There’s a lot of Lewisville spirit and we get to set up the course,” junior Susan Forbis said. “It’s a lot of fun.”

The first month of school has been busy for the team. With five meets already under their belt, the team is excited for the rest of the season.

At the Friday Night Hawk Invite on Aug. 22, the top runner for the Lady Farmer varsity was Forbis with 13:15:6, her season record for the two-mile race.

“We’re all like a family,” Forbis said. “I have a lot of my friends there and we can support each other. We have a lot of fun together.”

At the Flower Mound Invitational on Sept. 6, the top runners from the school’s varsity team were sophomore Edgar Santiago who finished with 18:54:02, junior Anayeli Calixto with 22:15:02, junior Juan Calixto with 19:18:11, and Forbis with 22:44:58. These times are from the 5,000 meter race.

“I got my first medal, along with Anayeli Calixo, so we all had a really good performance last meet,” Forbis said about the Flower Mound Invitational.

The meet last Saturday was the Colony Cougar Classic. Freshman Claire Marrone and senior Sydney Fuqua ran their fastest times of the season with 22:41:21 and 24:04:71, respectively.

“I really like running,” Santiago said. “I guess you could say running is my life. I’m really into what I do everyday.”
