Reflections, a PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) program, has organized “The Magic of a Moment” for those with artistic talents wanting to display and compete. This PTSA program began in 1969 to provide a forum for students to enhance their education with the exploration of the arts.

This event will give various artists, from dance to drawing, a chance to show their work in hopes of winning this national event. Applications will be available Monday, September 17th, for any student interested in entering. The rules and sign up forms will be available online as well as with the art, theater arts, and computer teachers.

The students will be able to submit works in one of six areas of art which include: Literature-containing poetry, prose, or drama; Visual Arts-containing drawings, painting, collage, fiber work, computer generated artwork, metal etching, or punch work; Photography-containing  black and white image, or group of images; Musical composition-containing voice, instruments, or both; Dance Choreography-containing a dance routine recorded on a CD or DVD; and Film Production-containing an original work of fiction or nonfiction. Every entry must be inspired by the theme “The Magic of a Moment”.

All artwork will be due October 26th, 2012. Submissions will be judged the first week of November, and all entries with awards will be displayed online at the LHS website.  Also, those making it to district level will be notified on December 1st, 2012.
