Summer is coming soon and what other way to spend it by watching movies. From least to most anticipated, here is our list of movies coming out in summer.

8. “Annabelle Comes Home” – June 28 – Set in the same universe as “The Conjuring,” we have seen plenty of movies which connect “Annabelle” to “The Conjuring” and “The Nun.” With a new movie coming out, the storyline will be complicated as horror fans will try to connect the timeline. The films are always successful, but if the movies continue it could become boring and lose its hype. Please, keep her in her box.

7. “Child’s Play” – June 21 – Previous Chucky movies are always somehow funny to viewers, but looking at the trailer for “Child’s Play,” it looks nothing like the original movies. Not to mention, Chucky looks like a robot instead of a doll. The directors should have stuck to the original Chucky. Can we have the old Chucky back?

6. “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” – August 9 – The book series “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” which terrified elementary school children, is now officially becoming its own movie. Fans of the book series wish for the film to stay true to the original stories told in the books but make it scarier.

5. “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” – July 31 – Every movie Eugenio Derbez is a part of is hilarious. That is a fact. Long-time fans of the cartoon aren’t satisfied because Dora doesn’t talk to the audience like she normally does in the cartoon. Overall, expectations are somewhat high for this film because fans will see another side of Dora that hasn’t been seen before.

4. “Godzilla: King of Monsters” – May 30 – This is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, starring amazing actresses including Millie Bobby Brown and Vera Farmiga. Based on the trailer, the movie will bring intense fights between Godzilla and other monsters. The visuals for the film look wonderful and appear to be worth watching.

3. “Aladdin” – May 24 – From being a popular film from Disney with its original film from 1992, “Aladdin” will be an amazing film to see this summer. After watching the trailer for this movie, Disney fans are excited to see how the love story from Aladdin and Princess Jasmine will come to life once again in the live-action film. Disney fans hope this film stays with its original plot.

2. “The Lion King” – July 9 – Watching this movie in animation was already heartbreaking, now we have to sit and rewatch it in live-action? Yes, please. “The Lion King” has amazing popular voice actors including Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. The film looks like it could be successful if it stays true to the original plot. Overall, the film is highly anticipated by Disney fans.

1. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” – July 2 –  Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. This film is highly anticipated after the success of the latest Marvel film, “Avengers: Endgame.” “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is set in the aftermath of “Endgame.” The film contains humor, action and romance as Peter has developed feelings for MJ (Zendaya). Holland won everyone’s heart in the first Spiderman movie, “Spiderman: Homecoming,” and fans are excited to see him on the big screen once again.
