Senior Kandis Hartdegen (12) starts to fight for the ball against two Allen defenders.

Currently midway through the season, both soccer teams have met expectations and still hold the possibilities to make the playoffs.

The girls stand 7-3 overall, 4-3 district. They are in fifth place in the district, just one win behind Flower Mound High School [8-2, 5-2] for the last district spot.

Facing the most important stretch of the season, the girls look to finish the season strong and earn one of the four district playoff spots. They hope to do this behind senior team captain Carli Arthurs who wishes to finish her last season on a high note.

“This year we’ve played better than we have in the previous four years,” Arthurs said. ”We have been working hard and the results have shown that in the games.”

Senior Hannah Campbell thinks that this is the best team of the last few years. She plans to work hard and hopefully help the team get into the playoffs this year for the first time in four years.

“We feel like a family,” Campbell said. “We work together and try to be the best we can be together.”

The boys sit at sixth in the district [8-4, 2-3], and senior Van Bawi Hlu is doing anything he can to help his team get into the playoffs. Hlu challenges himself to be the best he can be every day.

“I feel like I could be a better teammate through hard work and dedication,” Hlu said. “We need to have less selfish play and more passing.”
