The first non-kid show I can ever remember watching is NCIS (arguably not exactly the most appropriate show for a five year old, but we’ll let that slide); since then, I have always been a huge fan of crime shows. These shows always seem to catch my interest and leave me glued to the screen for hours on end. Crossing Lines is no exception.

The show is set in Europe with the main characters coming from different countries around the continent. The main countries featured are Italy, the Netherlands, France, Spain and England. The main focus of the show is a crime fighting unit similar to the FBI. It investigates crimes that cross international borders just as the FBI does for crimes crossing state lines. Hence the name Crossing Lines.

Crossing lines began back in 2013 and has run two seasons (both available on Netflix) with another to return sometime this fall. Between the two seasons there are 22 episodes total, with 11 episodes in each season. While the show concerns occasionally dark subject matter, the overall appeal is appropriate for really anyone over the age of 13.

The show includes many smaller actors but also has a few bigger names, including Donald Sutherland who many recognize as President Snow from the “The Hunger Games.” William Fitchner is also on the show, after being in “Blades of Glory” and the “Dark Knight Rises.”

IMDb gives the show a 7.4 out of 10; however, I feel it deserves a solid eight or higher. It is a show I would recommend to both avid crime show enthusiasts like myself and those wanting to dip their toes in the genre. Fans of NCIS would enjoy watching this European gang of crime fighters as they solve a few murders, investigate a few kidnappings, and keep viewers in suspense all the while.
